The first solo I ever sang in church was an Amy Grant classic called, “My Father’s Eyes.”
The premise of the song is that we may look like our parents, but we should pray that people say we have our heavenly Father’s eyes. Eyes full of compassion/Seeing every pain/Knowing what you’re going through/And feeling it the same.
I love that notion. That we, the children of God, might look like Him. That when people see us they would say, “She reminds me so much of her heavenly Father.”
My boys don’t look much like me. They have a feature here or there, but they are all handsome like my husband. That makes me so proud. But I pray more than any resemblance to me or Chad, that my boys look and love like their heavenly Father — faithful, compassionate and true.
