I love the story of Esther. Esther’s heroism is set against the backdrop of murder and revenge.
Because Mordecai, Esther’s uncle, would not bow down to Haman, the King’s top advisor, he purposes to kill every single Jew in Persia.
Why? Because the world rarely applauds when we stand up and live like God requires. Listen to what Haman says about the people of God: “Their customs are different, and it is not in the king’s best interest to tolerate them.”
Friends, this world is often tolerant of everything except Christianity. But this is not new. Since the days of Esther the people of God have faced persecution for our faith.
But God has always been there and will always preserve His people. We’re not just on the right side of history, we’re on the right side of eternity.
