I had to get my seventh grader, Cooper, dress shoes to wear every day for the new school year.

That’s a pretty dramatic step up in his shoe game. When he put them on he said, “Mom, these really aren’t comfortable at all.” I told him, “I’m sure they’re not buddy. They aren’t going to feel like your old tennis shoes, but the discomfort reminds you that they’re different.”

What a truth for you and me! Maybe you’re a new believer and living life like Jesus is just really uncomfortable for you right now. I’d say the same thing I said to Coop, your discomfort is proof that you’re different.

Maybe you’ve walked with Jesus a long time, but he’s challenging you to leave behind some old attitudes, thoughts and behaviors. It’s really hard, right?

But the truth is our discomfort is proof that we are living differently. And I’d say that discomfort is totally worth it.
