There’s a lady at my gym who really doesn’t like me.
I’m not sure how I got on her bad side. All I know is one day while working out on the machine beside me, she suddenly abandoned her elliptical and huffed over to the treadmill. And she’s disliked me ever since.
But the other day, something odd occurred that stunned me. She smiled at me. Like a real smile … almost as if she was wanting to encourage me.
Suddenly, I realized she has no crazy feelings toward me at all. It’s all been a perception thing on my part. Which has really gotten me thinking about the many times I assign thoughts to others that they never really think. And I need to work on this, so I won’t be nearly as likely to fall into the trap of perceiving rejection that really isn’t there.
