My dad’s dream as a little boy was to grow up and be a fighter pilot for the U.S. Navy or Air Force.
This dream grew into a young man’s ambition, and all of Dad’s energy was focused on making that dream a reality. But when he took the entrance exam, he failed the vision test. Dad says it was a devastating death of his dream.
But God used that disappoint to redefine my dad’s life. Instead of becoming a pilot, he became a pastor. And for 40 years, I’ve sat under his leadership and teaching at our local church.
What heartache are you facing today? Is it the death of a dream? Maybe, just maybe, God wants to use that disappointment to redefine the trajectory of your life. Perhaps one day, like my dad, you’ll be able to say God’s plans were indeed far better than your own.
