“God is great. God is good. Let us thank Him for our food…”. This is the little prayer my boys say before we eat.
It was the sweetest thing, but a couple of weeks ago I told them I wanted them to start saying their own blessings. I wanted them to think about what they were grateful for and what they wanted to say to God.
My son Ryder asked “Why can’t we just say the same thing every time?” I asked him “Would you say the same three sentences to your best friend every time you guys hang out?”
Prayers are just our conversations with God. Practice may not make perfect, but practice makes our prayers more powerful and personal. It was a good reminder for me, too.
How about you? Are you practicing your prayers and getting to know God better through your conversations with Him?
