Have you ever known someone who had a way of making everything about them?
You’ve been hurt? They’ve been hurt worse. You’ve had success? They have had it even bigger. Everything gets hijacked so they are at the center.
But you know what? That’s how I often treat Scripture. I read the stories looking for tips for how to live my life. I scour the pages hoping to get a handle on my problems. I even look for myself in the characters and storylines.
But Scripture isn’t about us. It’s about God. He’s the lead character in every book, on every page and in every verse. He’s rightly at the center of it all. Now sure, in the process we will learn a bit about ourselves. But that’s not where we start. This conversation is about Him.
