When our family went to a major theme park we discovered there is a new, faster and easier way to get to the front of all those crazy, long lines.
It’s called a Fast Pass, and it lets you arrive at an attraction at a specific time and skip all the waiting and whining in line. Walking to the front of the line I thought, wouldn’t it be great if there was a spiritual fast pass that could just let us skip all the work and waiting?
But there’s nothing like that, believe me, I’ve looked. There’s no fast pass or easy button for spiritual maturity. Growing in Christlikeness is work. Dying to myself is work. Taking up my cross and following Jesus is work.
But the thrill of walking with Jesus is better than any ride or attraction this world can dream up.
