A friend of mine has experienced deep pain and soul-crushing loss in wave after wave.

The last time we talked, she asked, “why is God doing this to me?”

I can understand her heart. I’ve been there. And her question isn’t a bad one. We can be completely honest with God. He knows our hearts and thoughts anyway. But after asking “Why is God doing this to me?” I encouraged her to ask: “What is God doing in me?”

God has a purpose for your pain. You may not be in a place to believe that right now, and that’s okay. But He truly, truly does. Keep praying. Keep asking. Keep searching. I promise, eventually God will either reveal His plan for your pain or give you the peace to keep waiting until He does.
